Story Book Cook Parties

Story Book Cooks is a playful, hands-on experience designed to spark imagination, creativity, and confidence in young children through the magic of stories, food, and crafts.  Each session begins with a beloved children’s book and unfolds into an interactive cooking and craft experience inspired by the story’s characters, themes, and seasonal moments. 

Perfect for children ages 4-8, Story Book Cooks blends early literacy, simple kitchen skills, and sensory play into a joyful, screen-free activity parents love just as much as kids.  Children listen, imagine, create, and taste – learning that food can be fun, stories can be shared, and creativity belongs to everyone. 

What to Expect: 

  • Story Time – a guided reading of a thoughtfully chose children’s book 

  • Hand-on “Cooking” Activity – a no-stress age-appropriate snack kids help to make themselves 

  • Creative Craft – a themed take-home craft connected to the story 

  • Seasonal Themes – Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, springtime and more 

  • Community Focused – Hosted at local libraries, your home and other family-friendly spaces of your choosing 

Every Story Book Cooks event is intentionally designed to feel cozy, welcoming, and magical – like stepping into the pages of the book.  Children leave with full hearts, busy hands, and a sense of pride in what they created.   

Whether it’s building a leprechaun trap, decorating a bunny-themed snack, or celebrating friendship and kindness through food, Story Book Cooks creates meaningful memories families cherish long after the last page is turned.  This is a perfect gifting experience.

Story Book Cook Party for Kids – It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny

Celebrate Easter and the joys of spring with a cozy storytime, hands on food activity, and creative fun – The Sweet Elm way.  Join us for a special Story Book Cook experiences inspired by the beloved children’s book It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny by Marilyn Sadler.  This gentle, humorous story about being yourself sets the stage for a springtime program focused on creativity, confidence, and fun.  After reading the book and discussing the lesson children will get to create an adorable Bunny Face Rice Cake snack, followed by a thoughtful spring craft they’ll be proud to take home.  Each child will leave with a Sweet Elm style take-home treat.  Perfect for ages 4-8.  Caregivers are required to stay and participate.  Food allergies cannot be accommodated at this time.

Join The Sweet Elm for a festive Story Book Cook experience inspired by the beloved children’s book How to Catch a Leprechaun.  We’ll gather for an interactive read-aloud, then have fun making Lucky Charm chex mix at a mix your own snack and candy bar.  Waters will be provided.  We will leave plenty of time to design and build a leprechaun trap.  This playful program encourages creativity, problem-solving, and early kitchen confidence for your little ones.
